I start with a list of ideas, then I look at my supply of materials and see if there is a fit. I have wood pieces, old cupboard doors, canvases, random metal, and other materials I have found along the way. I look at a gear and an old clock and see a bicycle. I visualize a door plate as a wine bottle label. I see a wrench and it becomes the body of a butterfly. I find the right board or cupboard and begin to paint the background and then add the metal pieces to give it dimension. Although I don’t always do 3-D art, it has been my passion lately. I love to find a piece of discarded wood or metal and give it new life, to look at something in a completely different way and create a new vision for it.
