to participate in Open Studios
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
In Christine’s honor, a scholarship has been set up to encourage emerging young artists to participate in the Clark County Open Studios program. With the help of the board of directors as well as Christine’s family, this scholarship will be awarded annually with the intent of giving emerging artists the support needed to help launch their art careers.
- For emerging artists ages 20-30.
- Scholarship award of $1000.
- Mentorship from seasoned Open Studios Artists
- Option to be hosted in another artist’s studio
- The award is given on merit and is chosen based on the highest jurors’ scores

MEET THE 2025 EMERGING ARTIST RECIPIENT
We’re excited to introduce Analyn Anderson
Analyn’s work explores the emotional and symbolic relationship between humans and animals. Working in colored pencil, acrylic, and mixed media, she moves between realism and abstraction to examine themes of connection, vulnerability, grief, and environmental awareness.
While pet portrait commissions have provided a sustainable foundation for her artistic career, Analyn is eager to expand her personal body of work with support from the Christine Rice Emerging Artist Scholarship and mentorship program. Her goals include creating an exhibition to raise funds for an animal rescue organization and, as a new homeowner, establishing her first dedicated studio space.
You can meet Analyn during the Clark County Open Studios Tour on November 7–8, when she will welcome visitors to her downtown Vancouver studio. Her work is also featured at Aurora Gallery, where she has assisted gallery owner Elizabeth Steinbaugh for the past three years and has exhibited her artwork for the last two. At just 24 years old, Analyn has already demonstrated an impressive commitment to her artistic career, and we are thrilled to support her continued growth through this year’s scholarship.

About Christine
Christine Rice was a talented young artist who focused on ‘functional art’ that intertwined with her life in the Pacific Northwest. She was becoming known for her block prints and wearable designs when her life was tragically cut short – at age 31 – by an undiagnosed medical condition. Her family, friends, and art community were shattered by her unexpected passing. Fresh out of college, Christine got her start through Artstra’s Open Studios program. Preparing for and participating in the Open Studios tour pushed her work to another level and changed how she viewed herself as an artist.
