I have a creative soul and am inspired by everything around me. I see art everywhere, and often think “THAT would be an amazing painting”. I mentally convert the in my mind to how it would be executed in painting.
I paint in oils, in both direct and indirect methods, in an expressive contemporary style. I am drawn to loose landscapes and plein air, painting those in direct method. My portrait and figurative works I tend toward using an indirect method. I try to paint loose and keep energy in the brush strokes, and also push color and editing composition to enhance each piece. I like to keep transparency in paint layers to promote luminosity.
My studio work includes the use of digitally editing images, sometimes shifting colors, or creating a composition out of multiple images to come up with a final composition to work from.
