Project Description

Wendy Davis

I am Wendy Davis- a Pacific Northwest oil painter/artist. I create paintings leaning toward expressionist and sometimes abstract style, and push for loose brush strokes, and dramatic movement throughout the painting. I often like to push the colors and exaggerate light and shadow. I enjoy doing people, landscapes, cityscapes, animals, and abstracts.

I have been influenced and inspired by many artists. I find myself drawn to the works of Edward Hopper for his use of light and shadow, California artist Richard Diebenkorn for his simplified flat landscapes, and the colors of Northwest Artist William Cummings (who was also my professor at Seattle Art Institute) among others. Painting excites me and brings me joy! Getting to express myself through paint is a gift. I strive to take the opportunity to paint daily.
