Project Description
Sandy Moore
I am a fabric, mixed media collage artist. Fabric has always had special meaning for me. When I hold fabric in my hands, I feel connected to the generations of women who have come before. I cut and layer commercial & hand-dyed fabrics. I use acrylic inks, paints, chalks, and pencils to alter the fabric. Finally, I cover the fabric surface with free motion stitching. This adds depth, detail, and a loose sketch quality to the finished pieces. The result is playful, loose, and above all, brightly colored fabric collage.
My subjects all come from the heart; seascapes with families at play, bright whimsical flowers and women – young to old. I make happy art that tells a story.
We reproduce our originals on both fabric & paper. Fabric reproductions are hand embellished creating secondary originals that are sewn by hand into tote bags and throw pillows. We also hand sew coasters, pot holders, and tea towels. Print on paper reproductions include journals, greeting cards and giclée prints.
