Morgan McColum

My work examines the relationship between the human mind and spirituality, as well as with nature. For me, painting is a form of spiritual exercise because the textures of the canvas, the colors on the palette, and the solitude of painting evoke emotions and memories. I make an effort to let those emotions out and explore them while painting. My work aims to prompt a memory of something that has been lost or forgotten. When I paint, I frequently listen to music, and the music I choose often informs and inspires my works. Painting is, above all else, a source of joy, exploration, and education for me. I hope the work expresses the love I feel for painting.
