My art is about time – connecting layers, excavated history, and patterns that repeat the lessons we never seem to learn. Currently I am exploring the impact that time has on ourselves and our environment and look to capture the powerful emotion that exists in every single breath. I create paintings and sculptures from a diverse mix of materials, many of which I find in my own back yard.
Some of my paintings are more representational and reflect moments I remember fondly, others become more abstract and fleeting as I struggle to grasp or escape the discourse of the current day. My images are not about things as much as they are about feelings deep inside me. They are frequently laced with political overtones and tell a story of how I have seen the world change.
My art does not answer questions but asks where in this evolution of time are we and how will we choose to pass through it.
