Cathie Joy Young
I work in acrylics on cradled wood panels. My process is intuitive in that I work out the imagery as I go along while painting. Most recently my work has become highly detailed and I use a liner brush only, once I have layered the ground with glazes. My work is populated with figurative imagery, resembling humans and animals, via connecting structure. I pay close attention to color, and I am currently interested in spatial relationships such as condensed crowded spaces up against negative space, and the power of delicacy when it splits a void.
